It's been a little over a week since I arrived - after one plane ride (arrived one hour early in Rome), four trains (if you count the train from the airport to Rome Termini) and one car ride from Umbertide to Casa del Grano - my home for the next few weeks.
Here are a few photos - I hope not to write so much as to bore anyone, but will let the photos do the talking perhaps....

Casa del Grano |
|
The Front (and only) Door - under the wisteria pergola |
|
The Drive - dirt and gravel of course!!! |
|
La Cucina |
|
Breakfast Crepes - blackberries picked near the house |
Ate Brunch here yesterday - at
Le Capannine di Sommavilla - organic restaurant about a kilometer from the casa. There were between 25 and 30 dishes (only two contained meat), eight desserts, two baskets with various breads, cheese, a small selection of raw fruit and veggies ......... and hand-made lemonade. So very delicious - and a lovely setting with families, couples, young folks and a friendly yellow lab meandering about among the guests.

before everyone arrived..... |

My second plate |
In every trip there has to be a little surprise - you know, the good, the bad and the lovely..... this was sort of the bad one evening - he was stuck in a bowl (thank God). So I took him outside and set him free......
Rita-I am so glad to get this. The cucina is charming and the cuisine (I know, but one of my favorite French mots) appears scrumptious. Please send more photos. But I understand your desire to be in the moment and not on computer. We all miss you here.

How unfortunate that you have scorpions who like American coins! You need to change to Euros.
